Roaches Joinery began in a workshop in the village of Upper Hulme at the foot of the striking rocky ridge known as the The Roaches.  First, apprenticed to his fathers joinery business, Jonathan had a rigorous grounding in traditional craftsmanship before starting out on his own in a workshop based just outside Longnor in the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District National Park, close to the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire.  Jonathan has over 30 years of experience working in and with the Peak District National Park and has a deep appreciation and understanding of its built heritage. He also knows well the requirements of the authority.  At Roaches Joinery we are able to integrate our knowldge of traditional joinery with creative and purpose made design to enable positive changes and adaptations.  Joinery items such as windows and doors can be produced to replicate original designs whilst improving efficiency.  We are located to ideally serve those in the Peak District and localities of the market towns of Leek, Buxton, Bakewell and Tideswell.

A tailor made service

We take the time to listen to your requirements and offer advice, ideas and samples.   We complete detailed site surveys or work from plans.   We are a local business and have excellent skills in working alongside and co-ordinating with other trades.  We can advise on which timber would best suit your project as well as which ironmongery and finishes.   We can produce scale drawings and even templates so you get an idea of the design in situ.  We are very experienced in liaising with planning officers and local authorities.

Glazing to suit aesthetics and efficiency
There are numerous glazing options available to you if glass is a component of your project:  single and double glazed, various cavity sizes, toughened, laminated, obscure, Pilkington Active (self-clean), soft edged, warm edged, argon, patterned etc.
Our double glazed units exceed u-value requirements expected by Building Regulations.  We can provide specialist double glazing in cases where traditional designs need to be accommodated, such as narrow glazing bars.
Draft seals are not an afterthought to our design.  Draft seals are integrated into the doors and windows so that they perform most effectively,  yet remain discreet.

Responsibly sourced timber
Ensuring our clients are provided with an environmentally responsible joinery product is all part of our service.  All timber products used in our joinery manufacture process and throughout our supply chain  come from Timber Trade Federation Members (TTF) who are compliant with European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) and have signed up to their Responsible Purchasing Process (RPP).  This ensures that timber is not from illegal sources and that information can be provided on the geographical origin and for high risk timber identify the forest management in place for its supply chain.  Independent third party certification schemes of timber products (such as FSC® and PEFC) are fully supported.
We ensure to work with the natural beauty and variation of the timber to ensure it is aesthetically pleasing whilst matching its qualities to its practical use.
